was born in Antananarivo (Madagascar) on May 1, 1856. His tireless missionary activity in their own country was highlighted during two wars in 1883 and 1895. Expelled in the years of the island all missionaries, Brother Rafael knew face with courage and success of the difficult situation. The French authorities, recognizing the merit, he was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit of Madagascar. For his remarkable literary activity was elected to the Malagasy Academy. Fianarantsoa died on May 19, 1919.
